ABOUT

Theo Vidgen is a composer specialising in television, film and commercials.

His recent work includes co-composing the score for Netflix’s Everything Now (8x45, Left Bank Pictures), writing the music for the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV commercial (Leo Burnett), Amazon Prime’s Date My Mate (6 x 50, Dragonfly TV) and co-composing for 52 episodes of the British Animation Award nominated series 101 Dalmatian Street, broadcast worldwide on the Disney Channel and Disney+.

He has a background in musical arrangement for the BBC and was assistant to Academy Award winning composer Howard Shore on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Other television credits include: documentary series Ross Kemp: Living With (8x30, ITV), title music for documentary The Killing of PC Harper (ITV), three collaborations with the BAFTA winning director Sandy Johnson: Hold The Sunset (13 x 30, BBC1) starring John Cleese and Alison Steadman; Jonathan Creek (BBC1) and The Young Hyacinth (BBC1); scoring The Choir & The Naked Choir with Gareth Malone’ (12 x 60, BBC2); The Big Painting Challenge (18 x 60, BBC1) and Tricks of the Restaurant Trade (24 x 30, Channel 4), he also co-composed The Job Interview (12 x 60, Channel 4)

Theo has collaborated with the music production team Workhouse to write music for The Apprentice (BBC1); Bear Grylls Escape From Hell (Sky Discovery); Time Crashers and Four Rooms (Channel 4).

Theatre work includes An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at the National Theatre, which was chosen as one the Guardian’s 50 best theatre shows of the 21st century; writing songs and underscore for All’s Well That Ends Well at The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, The Globe; Brixton Rock, an adaptation of Alex Wheatle’s novel for ‘The Big House’’ and the UK premier of Superior Donuts by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts at the Southwark Playhouse.

Highlights from his commercial work include scoring O2 and England Rugby’s Make Them Giants (recorded at Abbey Road with a 65 piece orchestra); working with Aardman Animations on three campaigns for Australian brand Myer; creating an orchestral arrangement of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You for Marks & Spencer’s Christmas campaign and Thomson’s launch of the Dreamliner Aircraft (recorded at Air’s Lyndhurst Hall). Other commercial work includes soundtracks for Amazon Prime, Skoda, Compare The Market, Waitrose, First Utility, Flora, McCain, Bodyform, O2 & NSPCC, Milka, The Defence and Rehabilitation Clinic, Biedronka and The Australian Transport Accident Commission.

His debut EP ‘October’ was released in 2021.
